Thank you for booking!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ATHLETES AND PARENTS OF ATHLETES ATTENDING A WGC SKI RACE CLUB TRAINING SESSION!

You must ensure that you have read the following guidance before attending a training session:

BEFORE you leave home for the training session

Please do NOT attend a training session if you are feeling unwell and/or you are displaying Covid- 19 symptoms, or if you are self isolating due to a household member testing positive, or have been told to self isolate via the track and trace system.

Please do not attend a training session unless you have booked a place through the WGC Ski Race Club website.

For children athletes (ie below 18) they must be accompanied by ONE parent / guardian ONLY, and that parent / guardian must stay as a spectator for the entire session. For adult athletes, they can be accompanied by their partner or ONE adult from their family, and preferably that person stays as a spectator.

We have been informed by the Sports Park that toilet facilities will be available, although you will need to follow the one-way system and enter by the main entrance into the Gosling reception area.

All those attending should be familiar with the Club’s Covid-19 Action Plan to ensure that we remain operating in a Covid Secure Environment.

WHAT TO BRING:

Hand sanitiser. There may not be any hand washing facilities at the Ski Centre, so we advise you bring an appropriate hand sanitiser.

Face Masks. Face masks are advisable, but not compulsory outside at the ski centre. If you enter any of the sports buildings or ski huts at the Ski Centre, face masks must be worn. Face masks can be worn during training by athletes if they prefer.

Water. There may not be anywhere on site to buy water or refreshments.

Ski Equipment. No ski equipment can be hired at the Ski Centre, so you must bring everything you need for ski race training. It is your responsibility that your ski equipment is well maintained and safe, and should not be shared with other racers.

Camping / folding chair. There may not be any seating available at the Ski Centre, so we advise that you bring a suitable chair should you need one.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

Arrival – Please arrive within a 10 mins time range of the start of the session. Please park in the usual car park nearest to the Ski Centre. Athletes need to change into ski gear and boots at their car in the car park before proceeding to the slope. Please register your attendance at the Gosling Ski Centre on arrival.

During the session – Please respect the social distancing rules, as per government guidance at the time:  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/staying-alert-and-safe-social-distancing

Athletes will be organised into groups of up to 15 plus a coach, and will stay in those groups for the whole session. Athletes will be required to maintain social distancing during the session. Please follow signs or social distanced markers at the facility.

Departure – at the end of the session, children athletes should return directly to their parent / guardian and then leave the Ski Centre via the car park in the usual way.

PLEASE NOTE – if we feel that anyone attending a session is not adhering to these procedures or is not adhering to government / SSE guidance for Covid-19, the club has the authority during a session to ask them to leave the site. Whilst the Ski Centre is closed, it is the club’s responsibility for running the ski facility and the training session.

We recommend that all athletes and those attending are familiar with the most recent SSE guidelines for participants:  https://https://www.snowsportengland.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Guidance-for-Snowsport-in-England.pdf

Additional Guidance for a Club Race Event

Competitors will be allocated into groups in advance and MUST arrive, compete and leave within these groups. There will be no changing between groups unless specifically instructed by a member of staff.

Bibs will be available upon arrival at the venue, and should be worn throughout the evening even when not on the slope, to help identify which competitors are in which groups.

Competitors and spectators are requested to following social distancing guidelines when queuing for bibs or refreshments.

Competitors must use the left hand lift for course inspection and competition, and the right hand lift for warm up, as instructed by staff. They should not swap sides of lift, unless specifically instructed to do so. All skiers using the lift must wear gloves, their bibs and social distance whilst queuing.

There will be no opportunity to service skis between runs or anywhere on site. All skis should be prepared prior to arrival.

Parents or helpers may NOT be present on the start ramp or at the top of the slope, unless special permission is given in advance of the day. Only the designated racers may be in the start area at any one time.

Racers may not take additional skis to the start with them. Only one set of skis may be present with each racer at the top of the slope. Racers may change skis between runs at the bottom of the slope.

Any racer who is not present at the start when called will not be allowed to start and will forfeit that run. They may still start their other runs and record a time.

No skis may be sprayed or have start wax of any type applied on the start ramp.

Disqualifications will be shown by flag from a gate judge and announced immediately.

End of activity

Bibs are to be removed by the racer at the end of their last run and placed in the bib collection box at the bottom of the slope. Lost bibs will be charged at £25 per bib.

Participants are not to leave equipment unattended and must ensure everything is packed away in their bags and in a secure place immediately after their race runs.

All racers must be prepared to leave the site as soon as possible following the race event.

First Aid

There will be qualified first aiders present throughout the race evening, however, in the case of minor injury the competitor will be expected to leave the slope as soon as possible and “self treat” in order to minimise contact with the first aiders. In the case of more severe injury, an ambulance will be called, or competitors can leave the venue with their parent / guardian.

If a person requires first aid on the slope (i.e. unable to self-manage injury) then the attendant first aider will, if possible, ask the injured person to cover their mouth and nose and face away from the first aider. They will clean their hands before and after treatment and avoid touching any wounds or bodily fluids.

If there is an emergency situation or serious incident, we will call emergency services.

Parents / spectators are asked NOT to come onto the slope at any point, no matter what the circumstances of an injury. If a trainee is injured and requires hospital treatment, but can leave the slope without support, they will be expected to leave the site as soon as safe to do so.

Participants are not to attend the competition if they are at an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Please do not attend this event if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Terms & Conditions

If the race has to be cancelled due to increased COVID-19 restrictions, all participants will be issued with a voucher code to book a future training session.

If a racer is unable to attend due to a positive test or their area going into local lockdown, participants will be issued with a voucher code to book a future training session.

If a racer that has entered is subsequently unable to attend, you must inform the club at least 48 hours before the race event, in which case a voucher code can be issued to book a future training session. If 48 hours notice is not given, then we cannot issue a refund.
